Tanya was my first yoga teacher when I signed up for an introductory evening class many years ago. For myself as a busy working mom, she provided an oasis of calm in an otherwise hectic week. Tanya created a space (in a highschool gym!) that felt safe and welcoming and inclusive. She is very tuned into the mood/energy of her class and her guided instructions reflect this sensitivity. From her I learned the fundamentals of breathing, asanas and meditation which I have called upon in moments of stress in my life. I continued yoga classes with Tanya for years. Her approach has a sense of depth and authenticity which has evoked in me a feeling of spaciousness and connectedness during Tanya’s yoga class. I was very fortunate to stumble upon Tanya’s yoga classes over 10 years ago. As my introductory teacher to yoga she provided a safe and nurturing space to connect with myself through yoga. At the time I had no idea what a strong foundation she was building for my yoga practice, her teachings continue to echo in my ongoing practice through the years. She is a gifted instructor who is able to guide and support each student in the class while still holding the space for the group. Her classes are grounded in theory and her own practice, she leads with grace and makes the yoga teachings accessible to all. I really look forward to my weekly ‘Healing and Wellness’ yoga classes with Tanya, and always feel so relaxed, yet energized, afterwards. I am inspired to take both the effective stretches and focused breathe work into my daily routine. Tanya is such a knowledgeable, warm, caring teacher, always aware of each student’s particular needs as she gently guides each of us to protect our specific vulnerable body parts, yet challenges us to release blocked energy, and to develop strength and flexibility.

I love morning yoga with Tanya. It was one of my favourite things about the Wild Sacred Sexy retreat that I went to in Costa Rica. Tanya has the wonderful ability to transport you to another dimension during yoga. I have done quite a bit of yoga but the first time that I actually felt like I was floating as she talked us through “Chevausana” (sp?) was with Tanya. What an unbelievable feeling! Yoga for Health and Wellness has been a life changing yoga class. Tayna’s teaching of love, compassion (to self), non-judgment (to self)…and most important how our ‘breath’, our prana is key. Tayna has helped me realize that it is our breath, our prana that will help us through our most difficult moments. To me, this learning, this practice, this reality…has been most profound.

Tayna has helped me close my eyes, and connect with my inner self/soul…she has supported and encouraged me to ‘open’ my eyes (my heart) and to know I will be okay.

My 5 year old son has also attended Kid’s Yoga. I see him at home, practice his learnings, share his stories of the wonderful journey they experienced…with keen insight, joy and love. I first started taking yoga classes with Tanya in 2008, and was immediately drawn in. My five your old daughter has taken many yoga classes with Tanya. My daughter is truly excited about these fun and relaxing classes! She enjoys learning yoga and changeling herself to try new things, in a safe and caring enviroment. Outside of class my child does use the breathing techniques she has learned in yoga to help her relax before bed time. It is a great way for her to clear her busy mind at the end of the day. I assist Tanya Porter in her age 5-6 yoga class. I’m 11 years old. I really like working with Tanya. She’s both a yoga teacher and a good friend. When me or even my friends get upset I use techniques from the kids yoga class to calm myself down and I can also help my friends in stressful situations. Tanya is very inspiring.
